These six original designs were designed by CanTeen members from around New Zealand.
Kirsty McLaren, Sibling Member, Otago
The hearts design was created by Kirsty, a high school student from Dunedin using a stencil and sponge method. Kirsty's brother fought cancer as a child and, when she turned 13 Kirsty joined CanTeen to help her understand the journey her family had taken.
Ryder August, Patient Member, Manawatu
The dream catcher design was hand painted in watercolour by Ryder. Since being diagnosed in 2012, Ryder has faced challenge after challenge. But through it all, she says CanTeen has been like a backbone constantly there to support her at her worst and watch her grow to be her best.
Shakka James, Patient Member, Bay of Plenty
The flower and butterflies design was hand drawn by Shakka, a talented artist from Waiki. Diagnosed with stage four Hodgkins Lymphoma at age 17, Shakka has always been grateful for the support of CanTeen and the opportunity to be surrounded by others who know what she's going through.
Erika Rush, Bereaved Sibling Member, East Cape
The fauna and flora criss cross design was designed by Erika using paint, sketching and stencil techniques to create a multi-dimensional masterpiece. After Erika lost her sister to cancer, CanTeen helped her to come to terms with her loss and look forward with hope.
Justin Solomon, Patient Member, Auckland
The Maori and Pacific card was hand drawn by Justin which incorporates Maori, Samoan and Tongan design elements. After battling osteosarcoma, Justin focussed on getting on with life and is studying nursing in 2016. For him, CanTeen has provided opportunities to meet other young men like him, who know exactly what he's been through.
Sabrina Lilburn, Bereaved Offspring Member, Auckland
The scenery card was hand painted by Sabrina, an 18 year old in her first year studying social work at university. After her Dad passed away from cancer, Sabrina turned to CanTeen for extra support and a chance to talk to others who are in a similar situation.
